Here’s “Frida Piglo”, the ‘secret commission’ which I can now reveal after the client’s wife received it as a gift. I have to say it’s one of my more quirky creations!
The brief was that Carole loves pigs and bright colours. I had originally intended to make a ‘wallpaper’ background (as in The Raj’s Emerald) using a kind of braid over gold paint. However, despite a search online and in the extensive collection in a local fabric shop, I couldn’t find anything that was just right. I tried dyeing some old lace in a bright lime green colour, but the tone was too similar to that of the pink face and I felt it needed a darker contrasting colour for the pink to stand out.
