“Steal Like an Artist”

I’ve been away for a few days and have come back feeling newly inspired! While away, I found a fantastic little book by Austin Kleon called ‘Steal Like an Artist’, basically saying that all artists get their ideas from everywhere and everything, and that this is OK.     “What a good artist understands is that nothing comes from nowhere. All creative work builds on what came before. Nothing is completely original.”                                                 “We are talking about practice here, not plagiarism – plagiarism is trying to pass someone else’s work off as your own.”

I’m currently working on a close-up image of a Ming vase, made from lots of plastic items –  to be called ‘Made in China.’ This is a new venture – not sure how it will turn out but I couldn’t get the idea out of my head so had to try it!

I’ve recentlybuttons been given lots of gorgeous old buttons (thank you Ivy, Beryl and friends!)   I love Klimpt and am thinking of starting a re-make of one of his vibrantly coloured paintings… so excited!
